POSITION PURPOSE:
Serving as a thought partner to the President and member of president's cabinet, the dean is expected to provide college-wide vision and leadership in helping the campus infuse an ethos of equity in all aspects of campus life. To facilitate this effort, the dean will lead the student success and retention team which bridges both the instructional and student services segments of the college.
As an integral member of the campus leadership team, the dean will oversee a number of vital programs and learning communities such as, honors, Puente, Umoja, diversity-in-STEM, and the First-Year Experience, as well as the professional development efforts of the college.
Positions reporting to the dean include a non-instructional faculty member, a program coordinator, and a college researcher, along with coordinators and instructors of the learning communities. With this team and in collaboration with other members of the campus community, the dean will be charged with focusing the college's efforts to make real progress in achieving equitable outcomes for students of color and first-generation students.
NATURE and SCOPE:
Foothill College is committed to the institution's equity agenda, as defined in the student equity plan and educational master plan, and will rely on this position to provide the insight and guidance needed to keep the campus attentive to equity and by helping to set benchmarks for determining progress towards our equity goals.
The dean will focus on system changes, identify strategic areas to achieve equitable outcomes, and guide various divisions to achieve their respective equity goals. The dean will be responsible for the fiscal oversight of categorically funded equity expenditures that are subject to audit and require annual program outcome evaluations. The dean will also provide leadership to the college's shared governance committees and may serve as an ex-officio member on one or more committees.
KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are typical but not limited to the following:
1Provide strategic and visionary support for Student Equity efforts across the whole campus.
2Oversee a budget with $1M in equity funding.
3Provide leadership, supervision and support for identifiable programs and services to address disproportion access and success for students of color and first-generation students.
4Supervise professional development opportunities on campus for faculty and staff and provide support to the learning communities
5Supervise, collaborate with, and support the non-instructional equity faculty member to provide professional development on effective practices for incorporating an equity perspective into teaching and support services provided by faculty and classified professionals.
6Serve as the college equal employment opportunity (EEO) officer, in collaboration with the District Office of Human Resources, to ensure that the college's hiring processes are inclusive in compliance with state and federal laws.
7As chair of the Student Success and Retention team, coordinate the efforts of the 3SP, equity, and basic skills and lead the response to state reporting mandates.
8Collaborate with other programs on campus (DRC, Veterans Center, etc.) to ensure that these programs, too, are addressing equity efforts college-wide.
9Work with the Owl Scholars program to ensure that retention efforts are ongoing and successful.
10Work with president's cabinet members to ensure that equity efforts are included in all campus divisions. When necessary, provide support to divisions and faculty seeking to deploy equity pedagogy in their classes.
11Oversee faculty and staff drafting the college professional development plan and professional development program review. Provide leadership and feedback, when requested, for other department program reviews and college plans such as Equity, Basic Skills, and the Student Success and Support Program Plan.
12Oversee staff who provide logistical support for professional development events (e.g. room scheduling, coordination with marketing, organizing refreshments, etc.).
13Perform other related duties as assigned.

8Compile and analyze data and prepare reports.
9Ability to navigate across divisions and provide college-wide, system thinking.
10Work independently and anticipate the needs of the area of supervision in advance.
11Formulate plans and goals to direct work under the areas of supervision.

15Extensive experience managing programs involving complex multi-cultural issues within large organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
2Master's degree.
3One (1) years related work experience.
4Experience in personnel management and project management.
Preferred Qualifications:
1Experience in budget management.
2Experience supervising, managing, coordinating or leading academic programs and learning communities.
3Experience working with and supervising faculty and staff.
4Experience developing strategic plans.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
